See What Our Customers Are Saying!
We received amazing service from the Team at Davis! The service manager Jonathon was quick to respond to our issue and got us into their schedule in just a couple days. The installers Daniel and Joseph worked quickly and quietly, and left our space cleaner than they found it. Very happy with the experience.
I am happy to have selected Davis for my heating, plumbing, and air conditioning at Smith Mountain Lake. So far, Davis has done three jobs for me, and I am satisfied with the results and pricing. In particular, Daniel and Isaac did a great job installing a new HVAC for me. They are hardworking, knowledgeable, and very efficient as a team. Again, I am glad to have access to Davis in my area and would select them again with 100% confidence. Update: More great work from Davis. Michael solved a difficult plumbing issue by re-routing the outdated pipes in my old lake cottage, a complicated job that saved me from having to re-plomb the whole house. Again, 100% happy and confident with Davis' experts!
After calling for HVAC service (for no A/C) for our recently acquired 25 year old system, we received a quick response from Davis. Our first tech Chris came out, trouble shot the no A/C issue, and repaired the improperly wired thermostat right away. He gave us an estimate on the needs of the current system that he saw but suggested a consultation for a complete review as it was a lot to invest in an older system. A few days later, Mike came out and offered multiple options to update our two systems, including financing opportunities (I need to emphasize there was never any pressure offering "today only" pricing, been through that before!). We were fortunate, the systems we chose to upgrade with, Davis had in stock (one dual fuel & one heat pump) and within a week crews were available to install.
Fast forward 5 days; the original plan was for a two day install, one for each floor. The day before day one install, Davis staff called and asked if they could do both units in one day? Worked for us! The install crew(s) that arrived were on time as scheduled, all were very polite, each one made sure they introduced themselves, and they focused on their work and finished all the work within their scheduled 8 hours. I cannot praise them enough, no mess or any debris left behind, they even vacuumed the carpet in the bedroom where the attic access is.
We are happy with Davis services and are pleased to recommend them to others!
Sam and devin were awesome! Explained in detail and advised the best options. Even came back the same day to do minor adjustment as my preference! Would recommend to anyone.
Damian, Devan, and Michael replaced our 10-year-old water heater with a new Navien tankless unit and installed a Water Right Impression Plus water softener. Our hard water was taking a toll on our faucets and appliances, so they installed a new kitchen faucet and a fridge water line at no charge for labor. Highly professional and detail oriented. They were also very clear in explaining the new equipment and regular maintenance. It’s great to contract with such skilled and personable plumbers.

What Are Dock Lifeguards and Why You Need Them Now

Dock lifeguards are sophisticated safety systems that detect stray voltage in the water surrounding docks, marinas, and swimming areas. These devices continuously monitor for dangerous alternating current that can leak from faulty wiring, nearby boats, or damaged electrical equipment.

For waterfront property owners throughout Roanoke and Southside VA, dock lifeguards are your protectors. They work 24/7 to detect electrical hazards before anyone enters the water. When the system senses dangerous voltage levels, it immediately triggers alarms and can automatically shut down power sources to stop the threat.

How Dock Lifeguards Keep Your Family Safe From Invisible Dangers

You can’t see electricity in water, which is what makes it so dangerous. A dock area that looks perfectly safe might actually harbor deadly electrical current. Dock lifeguards constantly scan for these invisible threats, giving you peace of mind when family and friends are enjoying water activities.

These systems protect you from numerous water-related electrical hazards, including:

  • Electric shock drowning (ESD), when electricity paralyzes swimmers and causes drowning
  • Stray voltage from marina power systems that can travel through water
  • Electrical leakage from boats docked nearby
  • Faulty wiring in dock lighting or power outlets
  • Weather-related electrical hazards during storms or flooding
  • Equipment failures that release current into the water

No other investment delivers the same level of protection for your waterfront property. When you consider the alternative, a potential trip to the hospital or worse, dock lifeguards become as necessary as locks on your doors.

The Science Behind Dock Lifeguard Systems

Dock lifeguard systems use advanced sensors to detect even minimal levels of electrical current in water. The technology works by measuring voltage differences between various points in the water surrounding your dock.

When the system detects electricity above safe thresholds, it immediately activates. Depending on your setup, the system might sound audible alarms to warn swimmers and boaters, activate visual warning lights around the dock area, automatically cut power to dock electrical systems, or send notifications to your phone or security system.

Our professional electricians install these systems to create a complete safety perimeter around your waterfront property. We place sensors strategically to catch electrical hazards before they can cause harm, no matter if they come from your property, neighboring docks, or passing boats.

Think Your Dock May Have Dangerous Electrical Issues?

Pay Attention to These Signs!

Many dock owners don’t realize they have electrical problems until it’s too late. Pay attention to these warning signs that your dock might have hazardous electrical conditions:

  • Swimmers report tingling sensations in the water
  • Unusual corrosion on metal dock components
  • Tripping circuit breakers when dock systems are used
  • Lights that flicker or dim around the dock area
  • Pets avoiding water near the dock (animals often sense electrical current before humans)
  • Previous flooding that may have damaged electrical systems
